At The Avenue, we strive for a perfect service for all our customers. Below you will find our general accessibility information including details on our subtitled, 'sensory friendly', and audio described screenings. If you'd like any more information, please feel free to contact us directly on hi@theavenuecinema.com, and a member of our management team will follow up with you.
Wheelchair Accessibility
The Avenue Cinema is a fully accessible venue for wheelchair users. All areas, including the lounge, corridors, cinema screens and toilets are on one level. All doors, including front doors and screen doors, are either automated, or on hold open devices.
In-screen wheelchair spaces are simple and easy to book. When choosing your seats online, click "Looking for wheelchair accessibility?" This will reveal the wheelchair spaces, indicated with a wheelchair icon. Tickets can also be purchased at the kiosks in-cinema.
Subtitled Screenings
The Avenue will show a subtitled movie each week. The movie changes every week unless there is significant demand for a second showing of a popular movie. We set our movie schedules on a week-to-week basis so times will be updated each Wednesday for the coming Friday.
Sensory Friendly Screenings
Our 'sensory friendly' screenings are designed for guests with autism or sensory disorders. During a 'sensory friendly' screening the lights are left on low, the sound is turned down and subtitles are played for the show.
Audio Described Screenings
Audio described screenings are available for select titles, indicated with an AD icon. To enjoy this service, customers must bring their own smartphone device and headset/headphones. Non-noise cancelling headset/headphones are recommended, as the AD track does not play the title's soundtrack.
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
• Download the 'WAVECAST' app onto your smartphone ahead of your visit.
• Ensure your smartphone is sufficiently charged.
2. Upon Arrival:
• Once inside the screen, connect your smartphone to the specific screen's Wi-Fi network.
(Example: 'SCREEN_1_AUDIO-DESCRIPTION' for Screen 1)
3. Setting up WAVECAST:
• Connect your headphones/headset to your smartphone.
• Open the WAVECAST app.
• Select the corresponding network within the app. (Example: 'SCREEN_1_AUDIO-DESCRIPTION’)
4. Important Note:
• Disable device notifications during the movie to prevent any interruptions in the connection.
For assistance connecting to the AD track, please speak to a member of our team. For more information on AD screenings ahead of your visit, please e-mail hi@theavenuecinema.com.#
